Tall Black Guy presents Tempo Dreams

Terell Wallace better known as Tall Black guy has had a great year so far. His amazing reworks of classics from Stevie Wonder, Fela Kuti and James Brown has stirred up a lot of dust. Several of those reworks were put out via Brooklyn based BSTRD Boots. The mother label Bastard Jazz continues to tap into that golden touch by letting him compile exclusive tunes from some of the finest up and coming beatmakers from around the world.

Last month in our Beats Generation series we gave you the heads up that Buscrates would feature a dope track called Horizons. Other Beathearts favourites who contribute are Applejac (Jazzy Tofu), Ta-Ku and of course Tall Black Guy himself.

Our take away tracks are from new discoveries Chief (Switzerland) and Monkey Robot (Belgium). Both tracks are amazingly twisted, dark electronic grooves that we put on intant repeat. We'll definitely keep our eyes out for more music from them.

Ta-Ku - 50 Days For Dilla

We've had a lot of Ta-Ku and Dilla posts lately, but we feel that you never can have to much of the good stuff, right?

This is something we have listened to constantly since it was put out by the Perth beatmaker on the net some months ago. Didn't think that much of it, but it has really been growing on us, just something that you can enjoy wherever and whenever, beautiful samples, basslines and drums that would have made Dilla proud for sure!

Reggie Matthews aka. Ta-Ku have made 50 beats over 50 days influenced by Dilla, and every single track breathes love, harmony and inspiration. Some are just so damn pretty, others sexy like hell, the neck-breaking joints where you wanna move your body like crazy, and there's even a christmas joint... We had a list of examples, but felt like every track was mentioned. Just make sure you stay tuned for the finale, the last seven tunes are really beautiful!

The response in comments on soundcloud are just nuts, people are going crazy over the tracks. It's really hard to pick out the best stuff, but our selection of top beats that sticks out are Day 2, Day 16, Day 43, Day 46 & Day 50. This is on the list of dopest Dilla tributes made, and one of the most insanely creative beat-tapes we have heard!

As a bonus treat here's a really cool dance video with the french crew Marvin Gofin to the sounds of
Ta-Ku's Back to the Future beat which he used in the last round to win the Speekeasy Beat Battle 2010 (for the third time in a row..)

Ta-Ku - Dusty Instrumentals

Our favorite aussie beatmaker just let us know about his new tape, out a couple of days ago. Called 'Dusty Instrumentals', you can guess it's beats just laying around made over the years that haven't seen the light of the day. Never the less heat from this great producer! Ease your ears to this! Available over at his bandcamp.

Ta-Ku aka. Flip - Dilla Tribute Beat Tape

Found a fantastic beat-tape while roaming bandcamp. Perth, Australia native Ta-Ku pays respect to the late J. Dilla with his own tribute beat-tape. Crazy beats! Nod your heads to this! Put 'Higher' on and RAISE IT UP, this could be the funkiest stuff we've heard in a long time! Freely available!

Words from Ta-Ku: "Beats I've made over the last 2 years that have that Dilla influenced sound. Rest in Beats."
