Karizma - Collection 1999-2011 (Limited edition)

"A life, Jimmy, you know what that is? It's the shit that happens while you're waiting for moments that never come." Lester Freamon (The Wire)

Baltimore's own Karizma a.k.a. Kris Klayton is one of those few producers you can always trust to put out quality releases. This collection of hard to find and unreleased tracks is his response to the fast paced consumption of music today. He's put together a 3xLP limited to 500 copies. Never to be repressed. All with individually designed sleaves. Of the uptempo house tracks my take away is the highly sought after Donnie rework here entitled Twyst this (scroll down to track 13). Still five years down the line it still sounds as funky as the first time Benji-B dropped it on Deviation 1xtra.

But the greatest surprise for me were the "hidden" bonus tracks of instrumental hiphop beats. I mean we knew he had production skills and that he was into Dilla (check the story behind Lookin' at Blue) but I never guessed he take his music in this direction. The stand out track for me is Hidden track #3. It get the same kind of feeling as back in the day when I learnt that Kenny Dope was behind The nervous track and Boomin' in ya jeep. Listen below and be fast to track down a copy of your own before they're gone. Forever.

As a bonus here's Karizma's epic mixtape for FACT. Check the tracklist here.
